Week 1 of training

I need your support and cheering voices ready as I begin to train for the Twin Cities Marathon that will be the first weekend in October. I began week 1 of training this week and will have 15 more to go until race week!
This weeks training:
Mon: 3 mile run
Tue: 45 min. on the elliptical
Wed: 4 mile run
Thur: 3 mile run
Fri: rest
Sat: 5 mile run
Sun: rest
Total miles run this week: 15
With 1 week down I still feel great. I do need to get new running shoes however, as my dear Asics are loosing there cushion and absorption due to previous use. There are plenty of trails to train on here in Minnesota and I look forward to discovering them! I will keep you posted each week so I am committed to keeping my goals. I look for any input and suggestions as I go along!

I always tell myself I am going to start running, but the fact is I don't like it and it's very hard for me. I will keep checking to see how many miles you run every week. Any advice that would help me start running?

Why do you all feel you have to run a marathon??? Why can't you WALK a marathon??? My bones are too old to run, who am I kidding I never ran even when I was young!! Good luck with all of that stuff. You will have to see where you can run in London and Paris!! Wee Wee

Good luck Kristin! I know you will do great...you've always been such a good runner!

Good for you, Kristin? We are rooting for you. And Linda if you walked a marathon at 4 miles per hour, which is a pretty brisk walk, it would take 6 and 1/2 hours and nobody would be at the finish line to greet you. That is why you and I will never be able to put that achievement in our resumes.
I will be interested to see how you manage the Europe runs also. Probably while I am still in bed!

Good luck with all your training! I wish I was into running but that just isn't the case right now. :)

WOW, a marathon. That is great! I think i would like to do a mini again, but i dont know how a full marathon. It takes a good, focused, runner. I can't believe that you start running that much in the first week. Well good luck to you. Maybe we could come and cheer you on, depending on our schedule.

Marathons are soooooo NOT my thing, but you go girl!!!! I've always admired people who can run those things. I think I'll just stick to my Tight Buns and Killer Legs video.:)
