Mason Scott Rose joins us on March 11, 2010

Mason Scott Rose was born March 11, 2010 at 12:21am. He was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19 and 3/4 long. He is such a blessing from God to have in our lives and has already brought so much joy to Thomas and I. He has been the perfect baby in every way so far. He is eating great, sleeping well, and even gives a smile to mommy and daddy when we talk to him. He is a very mild mannered infant and rarely fuses. He has dark brown hair that does have a little wave to it, so he may take after Mom and Dad and end up with a head full of curls-we will have to see:)

I am recovering well after having to have an unexpected c-section. My water broke at 4:10am on March 10th and when I was admitted into the hospital just before 5:00am. I was not having contractions and was only 1.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced. They started me on pitocin at about 8:00am and about noon I was contracting about every 3 min and was dilated to almost a 4. At that point I got an epidural and continued to wait. There were a couple times Mason's heart rate dropped and were giving the doctors a scare so they took me back off the pitocin and then on again and off again. I was progressing but really slow and at one point they discussed that a c-section might be in order if his heart rate was to drop again. Mason then continued to stay fine as well as myself and I was finally starting to dilate and have more regular contractions. At about 8pm I was at around 6-7cm dilated and then about an hour later I finally progressed to an 8 and we thought that everything was on its way again. Then I continued to stay the same and about an hour to two hours later I finally went to a 9. From there I would not progress and Mason was not dropping. Finally at about 11:10 they were discussing a c-section again. The doctor came in and verified that a c-section was in order as it was not looking like Mason was wanting to drop anymore and that waiting it our in longer was not healthy for him or myself. By 11:45 they were pumping more anesthetic into my epidural and prepping me to go into surgery. By midnight I was in the surgical room and well on my way into surgery and then at 12:21am on Thursday March 11th Mason finally was delivered.

Mason was able to already meet Grandma Kelly as she flew in Thursday night (well, actually after a delay Thomas finally picked her up Friday morning at around 4:00am!!) Thomas, I think was getting less sleep then me! Grandma Kelly will be here to help us until the 29th since I am limited to what I am allowed to do and cannot drive while I recover.

After a very long day we were so glad to finally be able to rest and were happy that Mason and Mom were healthy. Our hospital stay went well and all the love and support from friends and family was appreciated. Sunday, March 14th, we finally were discharged from the hospital. Thomas was happy to finally have us home and now we will be adjusting to parenthood and enjoying our new little family!

We would like to give a big thank you to our dear friend John Sharpe who took all these wonderful pictures for us in the hospital when Mason was only two days old. Thanks for capturing this special event that we can remember through these great pictures that really express how we felt about our first born child. If anyone needs a great photographer to capture their child, family, wedding or other special events or occasions I highly recommend John! Congratulations! He looks like a sweetie! I hope you are feeling good. The way you had to have a c-section is not the best but there are things you can do that will help the recovery. If you need ideas you can give me a call. I would be glad to help! Just know that if you decide to have another one it will be MUCH better! Take advantage of having your mom and Kandis there to help because you will be able to enjoy Mason a lot more after they leave if you take care of yourself while they are here to help. Congratulations again!
