Calling on all Moms and Dads for advice!!

Calling on all Moms and Dads out there!!

I need some advice on the must haves for an infant baby. As you all know Thomas and I will be having our first child, a boy, the beginning of March and have started to think about registering for baby items. As we walked through the isles of "Babies R Us" to take a preview this weekend as what we are in for, we were overwhelmed. I would like the insider from all you Moms and Dads on the must haves for the first 6 months of a babies life. The products or items that you can't live without or have found helpful to have in infancy. Thomas and I will be moving in June from MN to CA to bunk with my parents and then possibly to London in late August so we only want to register for the must have items so we are not moving useless baby items. Also any items that make traveling easy with babies will help us too - so any thoughts with that will help too! Thanks for the input and I will look forward to hearing from all you Moms and Dads.

We also started an online registry at www.babyearth.com if anyone is interested.

My absolute favorite baby item for was the baby bjorn. I wore it everywhere. To the grocery store and Target, it's great for traveling and sight seeing, and was great in airports when you need your hand free to carry suitcases, etc.

It seems like March is baby season this year. As for must haves - I really liked my snap-n-go. I didn't want a big, bulky travel system so I got the infant car seat and snap-n-go separate. It was wonderful and super easy to use. Once Brooke was able to sit up on her own, I switched to an umbrella stroller which is a lot less bulkier than a travel system. I would also recommend getting a diaper bag that has a shoulder pad (think messenger style). With all the junk that goes in, especially when traveling, you'll be glad that you had the extra padding.
Anywho, those are the things that I can think of at the top of my head. Can't believe the time is drawing close. We're so excited for you!!!!

We keep it pretty minimal...
bouncy chair
swing
baby bjorn (or something similar)
want to get a bumbo chair, now that Macey can hold her head up.

Good luck!

I have to have a bouncy chair. That way I can take the babe with me while I shower, and move him room to room even when sleeping. Also something that I never thought about was a baby monitor. Even if you are sleeping right next door it's nice to have for naps while the babe is in bed and you are off doing something else. They have a lot nicer ones now that have a further range on them. Good shoes (or socks) that don't fall off. If you find some let me know, cuz Connor's always fall off. And with him reaching 6 months this week, I would also put on there car seat toys. And I am borrowing a bumbo chair with Connor and I don't feel like I use it all that much. I put him in it every once in awhile... but I wouldn't tag it as a must have... especially if your baby is a back archer. I hope that this was enough. Oh... a good camera to take lots of cute pictures and videos so we can see him too!!

Baby Tylenol and Mylacon(sp). Those two items were huge life savers for me during Ava's first few months of life. Don't get me wrong, I'm def. not the type of mom to shove medacine down my baby's throat for every little thing. But, sometimes when they are gassy or if they have a slight fever (or some other type of ache), it can make them so very unhappy. Tylenol and Mylacon are very safe if used correctly and can make a babies life much better when needed!
Other then that, I agree with what everyone else has said.
Oh, if you are going to nurse, I reccomend getting a good breast pump!

Swing
Without a doubt...a swing.

I would say the bouncy chair. Ava still uses hers all the time especially when I shower. I can strap her in and put on baby einstein and I get 20-30mins of me time. The einstein movies are really good too! The thing i wish i had from the get-go was a pump! I lost so much good milk the first month, i had to wear a towel to bed and change it through the night, i wish i could have pumped it and saved it! which also brings me to breast pads:the lansinoh brand is great and they stick to your garments. oh and if anyone gets you the standard burp cloths..take them back and buy something else. the only kind of cloths you want are the diper ones.

Lots of BURP CLOTHS (cloth diapers are the best!) Babies are always spitting up and you can never have too many cuz you're always looking for a clean one. A BOUNCY CHAIR for the same reasons everyone else said. I liked the BOPPY as well. When Nixon was a newborn I would always lay him in the boppy (on his back and tummy) because he did not like his bouncy chair very much until he was about 3 months. It is also nice for nursing purposes. A BREAST PUMP becuase you will produce so much milk in the beginning so it is nice to be able to pump and let dad feed the baby or have some milk on hand for a baby sitter. NURSING PADS...it's so annoying how much your boobs leak! One thing I wish I had but never got was a BABY BJORN. I had a generic type brand and I would recommend going for the real thing because mine was so complicated to put on and impossible to do by myself so I never used it. I'm trying to remember if there is anything else. You can call me if you have any questions about anything. Love you and can't wait to meet the little guy.

My baby advice..
Bumbo: Love it!
Also, I know you were mostly asking about baby items, but if I were to tell you my one baby advice it would be the book Babywise!! It is seriously the best book every, and will get your baby sleeping like a champ!! Talk to any mom that has used it and they will tell you the same thing.
So excited for you girl, it is coming so soon, and you look amazing!
