German Pancakes

I woke up this morning in the mood for a warm breakfast. A couple weeks ago we had gone to the Original Pancake house and tried German pancakes for the first time. I thought I would try these tasty pancakes myself. They actually were really easy to make and take hardly any ingredients. Fun, tasteful breakfast to try on your loved ones.

German Pancake Recipe

3 eggs, beaten well
2 T fine sugar (I used regular)
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup heavy cream
pinch of salt (o.r. :1/4 t salt)
1/4 t pure vanilla
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 T melted butter (for coating skillet/pan)

1. Heat oven to 440 degrees F.

2. Put eggs in blender container, cover and process at “stir” until light yellow in color. Push “mix” button, remove cover and add remaining ingredients; process until smooth.

3. Coat bottom of two 6 or 7" foil pans with 1/2 T melted butter in each pan. Make sure bottoms of pans are coated completely with butter. (I just stuck my pans in the preheated oven with the butter for a few seconds.)

4. Pour mixture into prepared pans and bake 15 minutes or until all puffed and golden brown. The pancake will unfortunately shrink very quickly when it is taken out of the oven so you have to work fast (good idea to have your family/guests sit down first).
Serve with lemon slices, powdered sugar and butter if you follow recipes to the letter, if you’re me...I add a little fresh berries and maple syrup too!!

Yield 2 6-7-inch pancakes.

It tastes like a combo between a pancake and french toast. It is eggy like the outside of a french toast but more like a pancake constancy. Give it a try!!

My family has a recipe, I don't know if it tastes the same, but it has less ingredients, I like them, here is the recipe. I will have to try yours too and see which one I like better.

German Pancakes

Ingredients:
1 cup Flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup Milk
¾ cube of butter (melted)
6 eggs
Dash of cinnamon (optional)

To make:
Preheat oven to 400°. Mix flour, milk, eggs & salt together, batter may be lumpy. Put the butter in a 9x13 pan, then add the batter and mix a little. Cook in oven for 17-19 minutes, top with syrup and powdered sugar.
